Limits

A PERSEUS limit can either be requested by a project or granted to it. Limits usually define a restriction on an HPC system or a specific resource. Examples include:

  • The number of cores that can be used for a job
  • The number of nodes a job can allocate
  • The maximum number of files/inodes on a file system

In contrast to resources, limits are technically not related to a specific HPC system but are stand-alone. When using them, it is therefore up to you which granularity suits your environment best.
